Self-Defense can EMPOWER Your Life and Help You to Feel Safe and Secure at Home and on the Street with a Method of Training that is Short & Condensed for Your Busy LifeStyle

Isn't it time for you to get this FREE training and begin to feel safe when you are alone...

If feeling confident and safe from potential predators, bullies, and "control freaks" is important to you at work AND at home, then read on...

...this information could possibly save your life by giving you confidence in your abilities and available choices to staying safe when confronted with threatening situations.

From the Desk of:
Clara E Minor & Dio P Santiago

Hello to Everyone Who Has a Strong Desire for Personal Protection~

Do you want to feel safe and protected when you are out and about, either by yourself, or with friends? Do you fear others, and especially the fear that someone might hurt you? Does knowing there are predators in our very community make you feel scared sometimes?

You can learn to protect and defend yourself with skills that are easy to learn. You will not become an expert fighter, but you will know what you can do to get away from a potentially dangerous situation. There are many choices, and knowing those choices is critical to your safety.

Are you a female who feels vulnerable?

Teen women and adult women (of all ages) and young children (male and female), are the most vulnerable populations. If you fall into one of these categories, then you need to know at least some self-defense.

Are there bullies in your life?

If others talk to you in demeaning ways, call you names, say things that make you feel "less than," make subtle threats to "get you in trouble" with your boss or other co-workers, or any other behavior that makes you feel intimidated, then you are being bullied.

Do you feel controlled by another individual?

Do others always seem to tell you what to do, constantly make demands of you, or they command you to do things that you don't want to do, or are not really supposed to do, and are basically controlling your life?

Even people you call "friends" can often times get you to do what they want you to do instead of what you really want, even though you know they might be wrong, or you just don't want to do what they'd like. Letting others manipulate you can feel disempowering. (It is.)

You do have the power to stop this behavior towards you...

You will not change another person, but you can make changes in yourself that will enable you to confront others in a way that works for you. How would things be different if you could feel safe, if you could make your own choices, if you felt like you conrolled YOUR OWN LIFE?

STREET.SAFETY.NOW is FREE Community Self-Defensethat will enable you to learn the skills and strategies that can keep you safe, especially if you've said to yourself,"I don't know what I'd do." You will learn some physical concepts that make it easy to move your body in strong and powerful ways. These concepts are easy to learn. (Yes, the two hours are jam-packed.)

Learning how to physically command your body to move in powerful and strong ways to keep you safe is easy to learn.

Could this possibly empower you to do other things in your life that you have been afraid to do because of perceived repercussions (not knowing what the outcome will be, or (especially) how others will react)? These fears can be alleviated with self-defense training that works for YOU.

You Can Feel Mentally Stronger & Less Vulnerable

…how would your life be different…

...if just knowing what to say was so much easier for you? In just two strategy-packed short hours, you can learn powerful information that will enable you to make strong, workable and effective choices for your safety.

Wouldn't your life be better if you could make choices that felt right for you? Just think about how things could be so different for you. Having personal power and feeling good about yourself is what self-confidence is all about. This new-found confidence will radiate out to the world for others to sense (in you). People will begin to treat you with respect, and quite possibly admiration, and maybe even awe. Perpetrators will certainly think twice about confronting you, as they can "read" power in others. They prefer someone who appears weak and vulnerable. With proper training, you can appear stronger and more confident within a short period of time.

Who doesn't want to feel emotionally and mentally strong and powerful? True confidence is doing what you really want to do with the belief in yourself and your abilities. You have no doubt that you can accomplish whatever you are seeking.

You know you can work through challenges with mental strength and the emotional wherewithal to stand up to those who might make you wrong.

Having assurance in yourself gives you the ability to be assertive. Powerful mental, verbal and physical skills will boost your self-confidence like nothing else can.

What would be different in your life if you did NOT fear being out alone?

Often times women will stay indoors at night for fear of being out alone. How often have you wanted to go somewhere but were afraid because you felt threatened by a "potential" perpetrator out there? Yes, they are out there—your freedom to be out alone comes from within yourself. Even though they are out there, you can still train yourself with skills and strategies to stay safe. You will learn what you can do and say to keep potential perpetrators away from you.

And when you can go outside and feel safe by yourself, wouldn’t your life be different? Think of the avenues that could open up for you.

How would training at MINORSAN help you?

Our instructors are professionally-trained. What this means to you is that you will be taught skills, strategies, concepts and movements that have been researched and practiced so that you learn what works for you and your body type. You will learn true self-defense training so that in the event you would have to use it, you have a much better chance that you will be safe.

There are no guarantees that you will always be safe, and nobody can, nor should they, make that claim. Humans are too individualized to predict what each and every person will do in each and every situation. By training with professionals, you are at least guaranteeing that you will learn proper movement, skills that work and strategies that will give you workable choices.

We have been training in martial arts and self-defense for 42 and 34 years respectively. We received our Full Professorship Black Belt Certifications from one of the most prominent martial arts grandmasters in U.S. history, GrandMaster and Founder of LimaLama Arts of Self-Defense, Mr. Tino Tuiolosega.

We worked out and taught 10 to 12 hours per day, 5 days per week, the longest training in any system or style we studied, under his direct tutelage. (Yes, he was in our studio or we were at his home all day long…)

Our combined training in 9 styles of martial arts includes Western Boxing, Shito-Ryu Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Chi Gung, Shaolin Kung Fu, Wing Chun, Aikido, American Kenpo Karate, and LimaLama. Our studies began in 1964, and 1972, respectively.

Our studies have also taken us into the psychology of human nature. Some studies have been at the college level, other learning by experience, which we feel is the best teacher anywhere. Teaching individuals since 1980 has given us tremendous insight into how humans act, react, and function under duress. We believe this experience helps us to continually advance and customize our methods to work for individuals.

Why is Self-Defense important to us?

The need for women and children to learn self-defense is an unfortunate one, and a very important one. Although perpetrators are soley responsible for their choices and their actions, that does not mean they will stop looking for their next victim. A police officer will not always be around to help out exactly when you need it.

We strongly believe that all women and children need to have the ability to stand up for themselves, take care of themselves, and know what choices they have available. Women also have the right to be out alone whenever and where ever they choose. This is not the sole right of men.

Personal experience has taught us that when a person has the ability to stop perpetrators, bullies, etc., they gain personal power and personal freedom. They can then feel the ability to exercise their rights.

And we enjoy working with people and seeing them develop themselves with personal power.

…and why it should be important to You…

If you value your freedom, if you value yourself as a human being with rights, if you honor and respect yourself, if you want to do what you love, or do what makes you a better person, even if it means going out alone at night—then you should be able to do it.

In order to have the power to make those types of choices, knowing self-defense will empower you to be able to do so.

Body type, body size, or physical condition is not a predictor of your abilities to learn self-defense. Learning self-defense is not a physical fitness workout. Yes, you move your body in self-defense training, but this two-hour workshop is not going to make you breath hard and sweat tons.

Whether your body type is large or small, short or tall, everyone can learn self-defense.

What can you learn in three hours?

• learn how your body language affects what people perceive about you

• change your body language to express strength

• learn where and what your weaknesses are

• turn fear into confidence so that you react in ways that will help you be safe

• increase your choices in everyday situations

• learn what works for dealing with different types of situations

• understand how to respond in confrontations with passive, aggressive and assertive voice commands

• be able to feel safe when you are alone

• elevate the quality of your life so that everyday you feel safe and you feel good about yourself

Yes, I'd like to register for a FREE two-hour workshop.

Looking for more than three hours of training?

You might be saying to yourself, "Yeah, but, what can be accomplished in three hours—don't you need more repetitive training to make things really work?" YES, and NO.

Let us explain: there are two schools of thought here. First, repetitive training in ANYTHING will make you better, quicker, more efficient, stronger, etc. in that particular discipline (if you are performing it correctly).

Much as a mouse takes longest the first time through a maze, compared to subsequent tries, with continued training, you will find the path easier and faster to manuever. The same holds true for any sport, any job, any other endeavor. The more you do it, the better you get.

The difference with self-defense training, is that you need to be taught what will work for you and your body, and you need to be taught that correctly. This takes time.

Second school of thought: Highly-intense, condensed training also works for whatever your time frame, e.g. week-long camps, weekend workshops, day workshops, etc. The method in which the material is delivered allows for your body and mind to absorb an incredible amount in a short time.

In self-defense training, there are concepts that can be learned rather quickly. In 15 minutes you can learn how to move your body in a different way that will enable you to project more power. This is not rocket science.

In answer to the above, the FREE three-hour workshop will provide enough information for you to know that you have many options for defending yourself. You will actually come away from the workshop with new skills you can apply immediately.

For more in-depth training, the Weekend Workshop would be much more applicable. Remember that neither of these two options will make you an expert in self-defense, nor a seasoned fighter. Those goals take much more time to accomplish.

So, which is right for you?

This depends on your goals. If you desire more training, then of course, the Weekend Workshop would be more right for you. If you want to "test" it out first, then the FREE two-hour workshop will work for you. This will give you an indication of how much more training you might wish to pursue.

Yes, I'm interested in the FREE three-hour workshop.

Weekend Workshop

This workshop runs for 7 hours on Saturday and 7 hours on Sunday. The best benefit is to complete both days. All material is progressive, which means you learn one thing first, then move on to the next thing. There is not much time during the weekend to repeat any segment.

• physical movement/contact— the “doing” of our physical bodies—the movement and contact—is what makes new muscle memory, and reprograms our nervous system. physical contact is a given in most self-defense situations. in training for physical confrontations, contact is essential. we do this conscientiously and with consideration for each other‘s safety.

• mental techniques/skills work—knowing what to say and how to say it is the basis of the mental skills and techniques. roleplays enhance this part of the training. you will learn powerful alternatives to feeling frightened, helpless, and/or ineffective.

• emotional changes in personal perception—being able to say what you are feeling or wanting to say at any given moment is covered in the emotional aspects of training. “standing your ground” is the goal. changing your attitudes about how you see yourself strengthens your ability to speak up.

how many times have you been "frightened" to say what you really wanted to say— even if it was just to a sales clerk. the fear at play here is the fear of rejection, and it is very powerful. being able to speak up is the only way to release that fear. knowing what to say and how to say it makes all the difference in the world when you need to pull up your personal power and make it work for you.

• intuitive training—intuitive training will allow you to “feel” when you should make a move, be it verbal, mental, or physical. developing your intuition, coupled with awareness, gives you the largest margin of safety. together, intuition and awareness are your most powerful allies to utilize before a situation escalates to more dangerous levels.

Areas covered in this training:

• assault/rape/abduction prevention & awareness
• physical training and how to best utilize body components for the best power source
• mental & verbal strategies
• negotiation/de-escalation skills
• sexual harassment
• home, street & vehicle safety
• demystifying weapons
• laws & your rights
• padded person training
• physical hands-on application
• verbal techniques & role plays
• physical techniques with training aids

doing is key like almost all learning, humans retain better by doing. after learning, practicing helps to retain the new knowledge in self-defense training. you will train in:
various skills and applicable drills
learn to neutralize a perpetrator’s power, both physically and mentally, so that you minimize any harm towards you

The benefits of “doing” provide the following:

• makes new muscle memory
• reprograms the nervous system
• immediate feedback to what works for you and what doesn’t

• new gains in awareness of yourself and the environment
• tremendous gains in self-confidence that you CAN do it

Padded-person training is optional. We will incorporate the expertise of a fully-padded person for those women who choose to take advantage of this option. Every participant’s safety is a priority. participants will be guided through each step of this very empowering training. Again, it is fully optional and no woman will be forced to participate in this portion of the training.

FAQ's

Do I have to be in shape?

Your level of fitness is not a qualifier for learning to defend/protect yourself. The goal of self-defense training is to teach you effective concepts and movements in order to understand choices for staying safe.

What if I have an injury?

We can work around any previous injuries you might have. Options will be given to make movements work for your particular situation.

Do I need experience?

Previous experience is not necessary. Most women come to this training with no prior experience. Many women have never taken any form of self-protection before this course. We help women sharpen their skills and learn new ones to add to their knowledge and skills.

What if I get uncomfortable during class?

Nobody will be forced to do anything she feels she is not ready to do. We encourage and support all women to work through challenges, but nothing is mandatory. If you are currently working with a therapist, we recommend that you consult with her/him before registering.

What if I can’t make it to both sessions of the Weekend Workshop?

If you are unable to attend all class times, we suggest you wait until you are able to schedule them all in before registering. Much of the material is not repeated. We do our best to reinforce all the material, but there is no guarantee that we will repeat specifics if you miss some time. Contact us about our next workshop.

Can you provide this course for a special group?

Yes. We can come to your place (or hold it at ours) for your group. Minimum participants is six. Maximum is 30. Ask about our discounted rates for your whole group.

P.S. How much longer will you wait until you begin to find your internal power and strength? It is always easier to put it off til "later" because we don't have to make a commitment to ourselves. Those are the hardest commitments to keep. Do yourself a HUGE favor, increase the quality of your life, know how you can feel safe, and begin training today.
